Port of Liverpool Birkenhead

Birkenhead is a town located on a peninsula opposite the city of Liverpool, in north-west England. There is a famous ferry across the River Mersey, linking Birkenhead and Liverpool. How to get to Liverpool - Birkenhead terminal

By train from Liverpool, take the train from Lime Street Station to Birkenhead Hamilton Square Railway Station. Then the ferry terminal is a 15-minute walk from the station, alternatively you can take a taxi. There are also national express coaches to the ferry terminal that arrive from all over the UK. From the centre of Liverpool, you can catch buses from the Liverpool One Bus Station, take the 1 gold, 464, 487, 409 or 411 bus. They all take about half and hour and leave on a regular basis. 

For those arriving by car, the motorways in the vicinity have clear signposting to the ferry terminal, it takes about 15 minutes to drive from central Liverpool, under the Mersey tunnel to Birkenhead. If you need to leave your car, there is a big car park in front of the terminal building and payment may be made in advance via the 2 payment machines at the car park, by phone or online via the Whoosh! app. 

The nearest international airport is Liverpool John Lennon, located around 25 kilometres away, around a 40-minute drive. Alternatively, you can take public transport to the airport from Liverpool city centre by bus 86a or 500.
