Dublin is a small capital, with wonders to be discovered in every corner, located on the east coast of Ireland, it unites the ancient and the modern, giving life to a culturally stimulating atmosphere.

A breif history of Dublin 

The presence of megalithic monuments proves that the Dublin area was already inhabited in the Neolithic period. In this period stone monuments were erected at this site to revere the souls of the dead. In the 6th century, the Celts arrived from Continental Europe and divided the territory into 150 kingdoms, each with its own king. The city of Dublin was known as Baile Atha Cliath, the fort that was built to protect it is still visible today. The city began developing with the arrival of the Vikings, who were defeated by the Irish Celts around the year 1015. In 1541 the Kingdom of Ireland was born, a kingdom that lasted until 1800. After the Second World War, in 1949 the Republic was proclaimed.

What to see in Dublin

The Temple Bar neighbourhood is not to be missed in Dublin, it is full of pubs and lively nightlife. do not miss a visit to Trinity College, a prestigious university, founded by Elizabeth I in the late 1500s. Trinity college had some famous alumni including Oscar Wilde, Samuel Beckett and Jonathan Swift.

One of the most romantic places in Dublin is the charming Ha'Penny Bridge, an arched pedestrian bridge that joins the two sides of the city and dates back to 1861. Among the ancient and medieval buildings, the wonderful cathedral of Christ Church is not to be missed. It was built in stone on the site of a wooden Viking church, in Romanesque style. St. Patrick's Cathedral is the oldest Protestant place of worship in Dublin and according to legend, it is here that St. Patrick baptized pagans.

Beaches around Dublin

Skerries Beach is a beach has clean water and is suitable for families as it has a nice play area. Loughshinny is a little fishing village located in a small bay with golden sand, just north of Dublin. A beach not to be missed is Tower Bay Beach in Portrane, it is a long stretch of sand with a tower, from which there is a beautiful view.
