Portsmouth is on the south coast of England. There are several ferry terminals in the city, serving the local area, namely Porstmouth Harbour Sation Pier, Southsea Hover Port and Wightlink Gunwarf Terminal. But the terminal for international ferries appears on the map as Portsmouth Port, located just north of Charles Dicken's Birthplace Museum. At the terminal you'll find a bar/café, open daily 06:00-22:30, a shop, bureau de change with cash machine, left luggage, free wifi, baby change room and area for breastfeeding mums, lost property, payphones and mobile charge points, information points (in English, French and Spanish. Also, dogs are allowed if they are on a lead in the port area, but not inside the terminal building.          

Getting to and from the passenger terminal 

By car, the Portsmouth Port ferry terminal is just a 5-minute drive from the centre, and if you are coming from London, it's less than 2 hours drive. APCOA operates a car park inside the port. Use the left-hand lane at the entrance to the car check-in area, and then follow the signs.

As a foot passenger, there are several buses, including the Coastliner, that leave from the city centre and Portsmouth and Southsea Railway Station, the journey should only take around 10 minutes. You can also walk to the terminal in approximately 25 minutes. Coming from London, get on a regular train from Waterloo station, and the journey should take about 1.5 hours.

The nearest international airport is Southampton Airport, around 32 km from the centre of Portsmouth. As a foot passenger, take the train from Southampton Airport Parkway and change for a Portsmouth bound service at Southampton Central or Eastleigh.
