Rio Marina is a town on the eastern side of the island of Elba, in the Tuscan archipelago. Rio Marina has been growing in importance for the extraction of iron and as a tourist and transport hub.
Places to visit
The landscape around the town is hilly, with red soil it is dominated by the Torre degli Appiani, which dates back to the mid-1500s and was built to improve the island's defence. Do not miss a visit to the Mining Park that honours the hard-working miners on the island.
Beaches
Rio Marina has some really nice landscapes and beaches and Ortano cove is not to be missed, it is a mix of sand and gravel with the blue sea. La Torre is located just below the tower that was built by the Appiani and is an urban beach and has many amenities.
