So let Netferry give you a few tips on how to get around Elba by bike.

There are services for cyclists on the island including technical centres where you can change or fix your bike. There are many bike rental shops that offer both mountain and road bikes, there are also biking guides that provide information on routes service points.

When riding around Elba it's not easy to keep your eyes on the road because of the stunning views! There are magnificent cliffs surrounded by white sand and transparent waters. You can even see the neighbouring islands of Montecristo, Capraia and sometimes even Corsica on the horizon!

If you are a cyclist who wants to push yourself, then there is some more challenging terrain available on Elba. In some places, the roads lead up and down hills and around some great bends, which will be great for exercising and stretching your muscles! The most demanding routes include the peaks of Monte Capanne or Monte Volterraio, they lead you up very steep hills and down great descents, back to the easier flat sections of road by the sea.

There are many cycling routes on Elba, but the two that are most popular are the western ring in an anti-clockwise direction and the clockwise route. The route is less than 50 kilometres long and it takes you through the western part of the island. It begins in Marina di Campo on a flat stretch, then goes up Procchio hill, afterwards descending down towards the town. Continue towards Marciana Marina along some gentle slopes then continue towards Poggio, where you will be surrounded by Mediterranean scrub. One of the most striking features is definitely the Costa del Sole from which you can see Elba’s fantastic beaches.

There are also some interesting cycling activities for families with children. Routes with breathtaking views are available for the whole family! You can also rent bikes with child seats along the easy and safe Calamita Light route, which is a road that leads to the mines, which are worth a visit! Along the way, you will pass the Mineral Museum and some nice picnic areas where you can stop for an open-air lunch.
