The port of Bar is located in Montenegro on the Adriatic Sea. The history of the modern port of Bar began in the early 1900s at the behest of King Nikola I. Before that it was under the Ottoman empire as a stop off for boats. In World War II, the port was destroyed by German troops to be rebuilt in the sixties. During the eighties the port became used for the transport of goods and cargo ships, developed the services that it has today.
As the port of Bar is located right at the beginning of the Adriatic Sea, the ships arriving from the Mediterranean can easily dock here and have benefited from the direct connection with the Belgrade-Bar railway. The port of Bar is becoming more and more popular with tourists due to the increasing flow of visitors to Montenegro.
To reach the port by car, take the E65 road and follow the Sozina tunnel, which connects with Podgorica. You can also travel by train to reach the port, and the main connections are from the cities of Belgrade and Podgorica, also where the nearest airport is located.
